+ Fenced-in dog area.
Wonderful campground. The bathrooms was clean. The camp host was very respectful. It a newly open campground that’s growing. They have a nice playground. You can play horse shoe or volleyball. It is pet friendly and they even have a dog park for them. If you have any problem the camp host is always there to help you. They had a movie night with the camper. You never know when they may have an event going on that they invite campers to.
I was staying there because I had nowhere else to go with my family.... The owners will be nice to you at first and then they will lie to you and be two-faced behind your back.... I think the only reason they had to kick me and my family out was because I was black and the camp host told that right too my wife's face how he didn't like black people ..... Me and my wife cleaned the whole place from top to bottom so we would get our money back and they were trying to say we had our dog inside the trailer well that no true the only dog ever in the camper was the camp hosts dog aka (princess) but I'm being charged for that at $100.00 for cleaning how can people do this And plus I just gave them $700 for rent on 17th and then they kicked us out like a week later..... And the park camp host aren't any better they never follow any of the camp rules... They put a no trespassing on my sister in law and then the camp host answer my wife's phone and tell my sister inlaw she could back on the property and they turn around and call the cops and block the road way just so they can have her arrested and then they put me and my family on the street at 11pm what type of people are they... Not to mention they only clean restroom one time a week and I couldn't tell you how many times my wife cleaned them so we could shower... Plus they go behind health department back and let people use the laundry room Monday through Friday when they are only to be use Friday though Sunday...
+ Nice fire pit at each site.
+ 3 out of 4 sides of the property are woodsy-looking.
+ Kid-friendly
- ALL SITES are near the gravel road that goes through the campground. The sites are not set back from the road. So if you make the mistake that we made, and camp here using a tent, you will hear/see vehicles driving only a few feet from your tent throughout your stay.
+ Nice (newer) swing set for kids.
CONS:
+ Dog-friendly
Been to a lot of camping parks and this is my top place! Very kid friendly, clean bathrooms and the free WiFi is a major plus. We had a short 10 min. Drive to a beautiful natural springs. John is the property manager and he is a great person very hands on with ensuring you have a great time! Even thinking about taking my wife who missed this trip back next weekend! Keep up the great work here!
- The campsites are VERY close together with zero buffer zone between sites. There are no trees/space between sites. This means no privacy. This means you see and hear everything everyone else is doing and saying your whole visit. Other campgrounds I have stayed at space the sites out more generously and have trees etc between sites to provide privacy.
+ 4 Lawn chairs provided in the field for sunbathing and stargazing.
- There were many kids. The sound and sight of children playing was everywhere (and continued past dark our first night). This point is a pro for some and a con for others so I thought I'd point it out.
+ Cleanest bathrooms that I've ever seen at a campground.
+ The campground is clean and well maintained.
Very nice camping spot with full hook ups. Campground host met us as we came in and was extremely helpful. I would recommend calling them directly instead of using Reserve America.
PROS:
+ Nice volley ball area (we didn't use it but looks like a nice set up).
- Nearly every camper had a dog (most had more than 1) so be forewarned that there are MANY dogs here (and they bark sometimes as dogs will do). This point is a pro for some and a con for others so I thought I'd point it out.
- No trees between sites means nowhere to hang a temporary clothesline to dry your gear, swim towels etc.
This place is more 'RV park' than campground. I would NOT recommend Sapphire Island for anyone seeking a peaceful, scenic, 'back-to-nature' camping experience. We regretted our choice. We visited 2 nearby state parks (Falling Waters & Florida Caverns) during our stay and both offer Ah-mazing camping experiences... we really regretted not having made our reservations at the state parks instead. If you are traveling in an RV and need a spot to spend a night or two this RV park would be more than adequate. This is not the place to come on your camping weekend.
+ The hosts allowed us to change our site at arrival when the first site wasn't what we wanted (we unintentionally reserved a site in full sun and we moved to a spot that had some shade).
- 1 out of 4 sides of the property faces a very busy highway (that is also under construction). You can hear the highway day and night. You can see the highway from anywhere in the campground. That was a major disappointment for us and took away from the 'camping' experience we were looking for. This campground is located RIGHT OFF THE SIDE OF A HIGHWAY and you should know this before making your reservation.
+ We were given complimentary fire wood our first night. The following day (for $5) an additional load of firewood was conveniently delivered by ATV to our site when we requested more.
